What's really in our food?

These and other questions will be discussed by health researcher Alison White at a series of workshops on food in June. The workshops, run by Hutt Valley High Community Education, aim to give information so shoppers can make a more informed decision when buying food.

When: 3 Saturdays: 1, 8 & 15 November 1-4pm
Where: Hutt Valley High, Woburn Rd., Lower Hutt.

Cost: $28 for the 3 workshops, or $10 each workshop.

To enrol, phone 560 1565 or visit www.hvhs.school.nz Community Education.

Please enrol before Tuesday 24th October if possible. For more information about the course or pesticides, additives or plastics, contact Alison White ph (04) 476 8607 or email alison@safefood.org.nz

"What's really in our food?"

The food documentary "What's really in our food?", shown on TV3 on 13 September 2007, is available for $39.95 from Top Shelf Productions (www.topshelfproductions.co.nz). The documentary examines the additives a family eats in the course of a day and their effect on children. You can also hire a DVD or VHS version from us for $5 + postage. The book about additives publicised in the programme is Bill Statham's 'The Chemical Maze: Your guide to food additives and cosmetic ingredients'.
