What do you know about genetic engineering?

Is the new technique gene editing more precise and controllable than older techniques of genetic engineering (GE)?


Knowing about this is especially relevant now as our present coalition government intends to relax the rules concerning genetic engineering, and specifically allow gene editing. Hasn’t GE food undergone trials for safety for it to be allowed in NZ and Australia?  What food in NZ is currently genetically modified? Does GE have any advantage for the farmer and the environment?
